PROCESS

Concept to Creation

What are first principles?

First principles is about challenging conventions and addressing the fundamental facts of a problem. This is how innovation happens. We draw from our understanding of material science, electromagnetics, and computer science to build solutions from the ground up rather than relying on “how it’s always been done”.

No one-size-fits-all approach

Every client and every project is unique. That is why we carefully customize our process to align with each client’s specific needs and overall vision.

Aligning with reality

Functionality and reliability, though essential, are just the minimum. Your product will be designed to target its industry and audience, whether consumer, military, medical, or some other market.

How it begins

Introduction

Our first meeting is about connection and understanding, where we seek to know the client, the mission, and the market.

Exploration

This step is all about ideation and discovery. We help clients flesh out their vision while also making them aware of realistic options.

Forecasting

This is where we put together the development roadmap. We work with our client to establish milestones and completion criteria.

Moving forward

Plan of record

A detailed plan of record is drafted and functions as the single source of truth for both client and contractor. This keeps both parties on the same page and on schedule.

Execution

Now for the fun part. We’ve completed all of the formalities, we’ve drafted a solid plan, and now it’s time to get that product off of the paper and into the real world.

Milestones

Project completion is performed in milestone steps. The tasks associated with each milestone can vary quite a bit depending on the project. Some milestones might be for a physical part to be produced while others might be for a certification or for an approval.

Bringing it all together

Delivery

A zip file containing all documentation will be sent to the client. This includes source code, binaries, engineering files, and anything else necessary to fully define and produce the product.

Looking ahead

Clients may follow up with us for maintenance of their product, new modifications, additional manufacturing runs or even for developing entirely new products.
